Jan. 23rd, 2007 05:33 amIndianapolis and Chicago are on to the Super Bowl...I've been flying flags for both teams this year and will be content with the outcome despite which team is victorious. St. Louis and Detroit in the World Series...Chicago and Indy in the Superbowl...exciting times for the midwest.

The Hunter's Blades Trilogy - Book I: The Thousand Orcs - R.A. Salvatore
The Hunter's Blades Trilogy - Book II: The Lone Drow - R.A. Salvatore
The Hunter's Blades Trilogy - Book III: The Two Swords - R.A. Salvatore
Choke - Chuck Palahniuk
Hannibal Rising - Thomas Harris

Jan. 9th, 2007 03:48 amI finally watched Snakes on a Plane. Don't believe the hype...it was amusing, but not even close to the hype that surrounded it. I've awful tastes in b-grade everything, but Snakes on a Plane wasn't up my alley.
That said...this could have been the coolest b-grade tv show that never was...
Heat Vision and Jack.
"Heat Vision and Jack was created as a 1999 pilot for Fox. Written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, directed by Ben Stiller, this series was passed over by Fox despite critical acclaim from those who've been lucky enough to see it.
The 30 minute pilot is about an astronaut (played by Jack Black) with a medical secret who is on the run from the evil Ron Silver and the rest of NASA, with the help of a talking motorcycle called Heat Vision (voiced by Owen Wilson)"

Dec. 30th, 2006 12:45 pmI hope everyone had a good Christmas. So did you score anything cool?
I spent Christmas Eve feeling nauseous...until I finally got sick at about 10:00PM, and the rest of my holiday vacation with a sinus infection. I had just made friends with our elliptical runner again and I've been looking forward to a bit of festive drinking as well. I hope this goes away soon.
Having a dysfunctional and expansive family has its merits at Christmas time. I've always received way more gifts than any one person should. Here's a partial list of material gains:
Colts Hoodie
Dean Guitars t-shirt
Jedi Luke Skywalker Unleashed maquette
Darth Vader Cinemascape maquette
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
Star Wars: Path of Destruction by Drew Karpyshyn
A porch swing
Philips portable dvd player
Dolce y Gabana cologne
Star Wars Lego II for PC
RC airplane
Star Wars Christmas ornaments
Turkey Deep Fryer
Olive Garden Gift Card
Wal-Mart Gift Card
The time off has been nice even if I've spent it lying around. I watched Descent last night....very open to interpretation and very recommended. I also finally caught Talladega Nights, which I just couldn't find at all funny other than the quotable Walker and Texas Ranger.
Have a good and safe time celebrating New Year's Eve. Happy New Year.

Dec. 14th, 2006 02:04 am books read this year(®Alek):
Panel to Panel: From the Pages of Dark Horse Comics... - Randy Stradley
Star Wars - Dark Lord - James Luceno
The Punisher Vol. 1: Welcome Back, Frank - Garth Ennis
Frankenstein: Book One - Prodigal Son - Dean Koontz & Kevin J. Anderson
Frankenstein: Book Two - Cty of Night - Dean Koontz & Ed Gorman
Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz
Forever Odd - Dean Koontz
Legacy of the Drow I: The Legacy - R.A. Salvatore
Legacy of the Drow II: Starless Night - R.A. Salvatore
Legacy of the Drow III: Siege of Darkness - R.A. Salvatore
Legacy of the Drow IV: Passage to Dawn - R.A. Salvatore
Lisey's Story - Stephen King
Paths of Darkness I: The Silent Blade - R.A. Salvatore
Paths of Darkness II: The Spine of the World - R.A. Salvatore
Paths of Darkness III/Sellsword I: Servant of the Shard - R.A. Salvatore
Paths of Darkness IV: Sea of Swords
The Miami Vice remake wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (that's not saying much). Excellent moments in the soundtrack (Mogwai?!). Fancy cars. Silly shootouts. Terrible editing and pacing problems. Now (strangely) I'd like to watch an original episode. When I was about 8 years old Miami Vice was hugely popular, though I didn't have any interest. My mom's best friend at that time was getting into the hair-cutting business...the first (and last) time she cut my hair she insisted on giving me what she called the "Don Johnson look", which entailed a cheesy-ass spike that I wore spiked up for exactly a day. I hated Don Johnson for that. To digress, you should rent this one if only to see Colin Farrell sporting a Chester the Child Molester mullet AND mustache for two LONG hours. ...and if nothing else I've found this new era Crockett has grooming that I now aspire to attain.

This is velly intervesting.
Also, I've got some music stuff up for sale on Ebay. I'll likely be adding some more cd's and possibly some dvd's as soon as I weed out more crap that I'll never play again so that I can buy other appealing crap that I really don't need.

Nov. 13th, 2006 01:10 amTeen Titans! - it's a bit vanilla...I couldn't persuade freakjob to sing on it since he suddenly decided that he's too shy for that kind of thing. He's been on a Teen Titan kick lately so I thought I'd surprise him with it, but he didn't even believe that I made the music until I picked up the guitar and played it for him. So anyhow...the link is there and while it didn't all that much impress a 6 year old it gave me something to do while I was sick and stuck in the house.
