so i made myself into a zombie...

...because I was bored at work and that's quite how I feel after another day of not sleeping for shite. Look alive, people.

(alternatively titled: my eye has been really itchy today and i just can't stop picking at it. And since my brother thought it was make-up I'll explain...it's a photoshop.)

size matters not.

I think I may buy a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser or a Damien FR. Falsedoobydog recently bought a bass and I've been playing his Squier with him when we jam since my Ibanez is in pieces. I should wait until it's playable again before I decide to buy a new guitar, but tax return time is coming and I've recently discovered that I have several cd's in my collection that I never listen to that are worth a small lot of change. If anyone knows a bit about these Schecters or has any other recommendation for an edgy but not over-edgy (like a Warlock or King V) guitar then have a say so.

I finished playing F.E.A.R. this evening on my pc. The last ten to fifteen minutes revealed the restraint the developers had to have employed through the course of the game up to that point, as they finally popped the cork and unleashed a supernatural climax and some quite amazing effects for a pretty thorough finale. In the case of Doom 3 the player became quickly conditioned to the haunted house whack-a-mole type of gameplay and when the *scary* quickly wore off the game lost its wallop. F.E.A.R. demonstrated restraint with the scary and made you want MORE. I held my breath around each turn with the possibility of the little girl (imagine something like the thing that crawls out of the well in The Ring) in the red dress sinisterly approaching me or just standing and waiting for me to come forth. The plotline was a bit thin really, but the lackluster story was easily overshadowed by thick atmosphere, wicked AI, and visual effects that made every firefight explode with more than a malenky bit of the old ultraviolence. Monolith's engine seriously demands serious hardware for the complete experience. While I could crank up the settings on my machine and play with an adequate framerate, I installed it on a friend's moderately dated (3 year old AMD 2500+, GF fx5600ultra) pc and the game would hardly run above 18 fps with everything cranked way down on an 800x600 screen res. I love the exhilaration of being honestly spooked. I give this game high marks for it.

That kick wasn't even close to not even close. What a game. I'm pulling for Pittsburgh now that Indy is knocked out. And what the fuck was wrong with those officials? Even we Colts fans were groaning at the bad calls that were screwing Pittsburgh.

Sleeping pill behind the wheel.
(yeah, it reminds me of Lost Highway too.)

I've had milder hangovers from alcohol. I haven't been sleeping well lateley so I thought I'd try an over-the-counter solution. Well it succeeded in knocking me the fuck out, but my mind is low and slow and not at all refreshed from the slumber. No more of those, thanks. What's your favorite nightcap? Mine may be the Twilight Zone and Jack.

I can still nap well at work...

I once told my boss that I was going to sell my bed and put a computer chair just like this one in its place so that I could sleep better at home.

I like spaghetti westerns. I like the way the boots are all reverbed out walking across the hardwood floors.
In fact, everything's got that big reverb sound.

Well what'll I do now?

Go to sleep?

I like to see, hear, or read about the things that people get for Christmas. But no one talks about it, as if people think that others will perceive them to be a materialistic shithead or something if they do. I know that Christmas isn't about the gifts, and that it should be about god, family, peace, love, and other bullshit, but didn't anyone score anything cool?

This commentary belongs to someone else. I fail to credit because I lost the site where I found it. I thought it was insightful enought to save.

Ugh, this makes me feel sick.

Now, usually when I'm asked for my opinion on capitol-punishment I say that I'm vehemently against it. I think capitol-punishment is an archaic, barbaric, fallible practice that puts our supposedly civilized government on the same level of the people they're executing. I believe it's long since due to be abolished.

However, when I talk to people about the execution of Stanley "Tookie" Williams, and I'm asked whether or not I think he deserves clemency, I vehemently tell them no. While I don't agree with capitol-punishment, as the law stands today I do not think he deserves clemency.

I'm really sorry, but I am not moved nor influenced by his reformation. I grew up in the areas that he terrorized in the 70s, and while hardly any of the youth (especially the youth who are the targets of his anti-violence messages) knows who he is, you can ask any older person who grew up around South Central LA/Inglewood (most of my family) about Tookie Williams, and they will know who he is. Not only that, but you'll be hard pressed to find someone who not only knew him, but wasn't afraid of him. There's no proof that such a person even existed.

Fuck the "product of the environment" excuses, Tookie Williams was pure evil. I've heard stories from the men in my family of how he would hang around with his group in Centinela Park and beat the shit out of anyone he felt like. How he would "curb" guys. For those who don't know, "curbing" is when you make someone lie down on the side-walk, have them wrap their mouth around the curb and then kick their heads into it. You can survive it…if you're pretty damn lucky. The man was the reason why parents in LA no longer felt safe letting their kids play outside at night. The man is convicted of killing four innocent people-but you'd be a damn fool to think those are the only people he's guilty of killing. He founded a gang that's responsible for the deaths of many African American gang members and African American innocents. He is responsible for a great amount of fear that still prevails in my city since the early 70s. That man is a cold blooded killer who still won't own up to his crimes.

Don't be fooled by how he looks now. This is how he looked then:

No amount of children's books will wash him clean.
