Feb. 19th, 2001 07:34 amLong day, short weekend.
LowKey and I drove to Ohio on Saturday. We saw Ohioans.
While shopping at Meijer's for HighLearn's HighLearn Day present, I saw my very first automated grocery cashier. I'll be damned. HighLearn now has enough Surge to overcaffeinate an Elephant while eating twinkies and/or pop-tarts. Chocolate Fudge Pop-tarts...to hell with him and his unfrosted strawberry pop-tarts.
At HighLearn's house we saw more Ohioans, drank surge, watched the Matrix, and talked about computers and stuff. Mmmm....stuff. LowKey and I while talking of world affairs and such agreed that as Americans we like our stuff just too damn much to let anyone else try to take our stuff. Get your own stuff. Third world countries have no stuff. If I was a dictator such as Saddam, I would dictate that we try and get stuff. What would I have to lose?
Bill Clinton coincidentally received a one and a half million dollar campaign contribution from the former wife of the billionaire commodity trader that he pardoned, Mark Rich, though he claims there is no correlation between the donation and the pardon. Bill apparently likes stuff too.
I returned a call to my mom when I got back to Terre Haute after listening to my voicemail. Jim, her husband, had a heart attack. He seems to be doing okay, but he'll be in the hospital for a few days. I'm worried as much about my mom's nerves and mental health as I am about Jim's recovery. Not only is she burdened by his ill health, but their financial problems have become more dire. Goddamn credit cards make it too easy to buy the stuff that we can't really afford...and more than likely don't need.
I've been in a weird mood, trying not to think about too much stuff. I'm nearing the end of my first workday back on the midnight shift...my nap prior to work was pretty unsuccessful so I'm tired. Maybe I'll have a nice long slumber when I get home. Maybe.
My boss is diverting my attention to ebay so I can see what kind of stuff he's bidding on. We're out of coffee and I'm not cupajavally motivated enough to care.
