T-minus five minutes until my weekend begins. Why is it "T-minus" anyhow?

The maintenance guys paid another visit to fix my circuit breaker problem...they didn't do anything, but it stayed on all evening without tripping. The last thing they said before they went out the door was, "well we can't find out what's wrong with it, so you'll just have to keep resetting it until something becomes obvious." I said, "what's obvious, smoke?!?!" It works for now, but if I have to reset the circuit breaker ten times a day I won't be happy...if they can't fix it I'll move. My lease is up this month.

I've got a trainload of laundry to do this weekend. I'll probably go to my brother's house, use his washer and dryer, raid his refrigerator, and claim his computer for spain...er uh, something. He's having problems with his girlfriend so he wants to talk anyhow. He even came online the other night...that's an oddity. I also have to check up on Billy...his wife moved out on Monday or Tuesday. Nothing's shocking. ...Mess with my dad's computer...he can't get the sound to work on 3d-pinball so he called in a frantic state. ...Finish my book. ...Drop in and see Damon. ...See how Tom's trip to Florida went. Hmmmm...that's about all my agenda contains.

time-minus

time in this case is the expected time that something planned is to happen.

Like if i was to march into my bosses office with the plan to punch him right in the face, but planned to do it in 2 minutes... then it would be T-minus 2 minutes.

the t- idea carries over in a lot of other things-- for instance, operation overlord-- better known as "d" Day. There is also an "h" Hour.. etc
