Five days left of my Christmas break. Tonight is Amateur-Hourâ„¢. I've slept-in the past several days and I awake feeling like I've been beaten in my sleep. Beyotch is moonlighting at the pizza-joint. I've been catching up on books...Snuff by Pahlaniuk, Coraline by Gaiman, Wolves of Odin by Grant Gould, and the latest Dark Tower graphic novel, The Long Road Home. I scored lots of books for Christmas...I hope that I can make time to read them once classes start, especially since one of the classes is Sci-fi lit.

I also scored the Orange Box, Left 4 Dead, and Quakewars: Enemy Territory. I've thus far played through Portal and the L4D single player campaigns. GOOD stuff. The cake is a lie.

Where did the day go? Cooked lunch, hung the crafty shit on the wall that Bran got for Christmas, and I've still yet to shake the cobwebs from my eaves.

Great fun. I've only played with CPU teammates, but they do a fine job covering my ace when I'm in a pinch.

I love L4D. We played the 4 person co-op and now looking to play the Vs mode.
Are you on xbox or ps?

PC! I did play the versus mode for a few minutes as a survivor. I got my ass handed to me and the round was shortlived. Elite Zombies seem to be everywhere.

Soooo...you got more video games than your kids is what I'm hearing? I can see the kids opening their presents of socks at the same time you open Left 4 Dead. Tears ensue.

Among the half-dozen Wii games they received, they've had a singular game rule their Holiday break: WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009. It is clearly the most inane game I've ever played in all of its Wii-mote flailing monotony. But I forgive them, for they are young, naive, and OCCUPIED. I've been rocking the Rock Band 2 songlist on drums on "Hard" level...once I can hold my own on "Expert" I think I'm going to buy a real kit for me and the wrasslin-obsessed morons. Time to start sound-proofing my basement.

I've said this once, and I'll say it again...YOU CAN PLAY GUITAR FOR REAL!!! I just do not understand this national obsession with Rock Star/Guitar Hero. I guess I'm still scarred by Parappa the Rapper and Space Channel 5...

Yes...while the guitar part is silly, the drums are a bit more valuable for training coordination, timing, etc. for playing a real kit. And as I stated, "once I can hold my own on "Expert" I think I'm going to buy a real kit for me and the wrasslin-obsessed morons." Also...if/when I get a kit, as you have similarly spoken of my "for reals" guitar playing, you'll likely refer to that as my pretend band. Music just ain't your bag.

And who the hell are Parappa and Space Channel 5?
