I'm going to Chicago this weekend to see Dimmu, Behemoth, and another band...Keep of Kalessin. I just checked out their Myspace page and they sound pretty solid.

I'm hoping to catch these guys on tour this year too..it's the final countdown!

I've watched Juno, Cloverfield, and Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem over the past week. I could recommend the first two easily enough, but the AVP sequel was just not good.

I need to start reading No Country for Old Men.

I won't be here, vacation, but you might want to head to the Goose Island on Clybourn. Apparently the land owner didn't renew their lease and will close by the end of the year. They'll still make beer at another brewery but the pub location will be gone leaving only the one in Wrigleyville.

I agree on Juno, wholeheartedly. didn't see Cloverfield. I have AVP half downloaded, but I just can't do it. Everyone says it sucks, and the first one was terrible.

Cloverfield is pretty well done from its perspective. AvP...eh...I just couldn't get all that interested. Likely because I couldn't give two shits about any of the characters, so there wasn't any real suspense or viewer-concern as to their fate as xeno-fodder.

Agreed. The acting was weak and there was no character development. The only good scene (in the first one) was the part where the Predator wouldn't kill the Bishop guy because he had cancer. And they ruined it.

I thought the second AVP was miles above the first one.. but it still wasn't much good overall.. entertaining... but not Aliens good. (Better than Alien3 though)

Better than Aliens3....hmm....that's even a stretch imo. As I mentioned in my last reply to comment..."Likely because I couldn't give two shits about any of the characters, so there wasn't any real suspense or viewer-concern as to their fate as xeno-fodder." The characters were generic and disposable...every stinkin one of'em. Admittedly, I'd have to watch Alien3 again to compare them fairly.

Dude. Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth? Dehemoth? A most worthy road trip. I request a full report!

Thanks for the info on AVP II. What'd you think of Cloverfield?

Cloverfield was interesting. The vague marketing for the film set it up proper...the perspective was well-done and the overall experience was excellent. Incidentally(?) I was a bit more drunk when I watched Cloverfield than I was when I watched AVP2...but I'd like to think the alcohol didn't hinder my perception of quality all that much.

I'll let you know how the Behemmu Borgemoth show is. I've been listening to tons of Behemoth of the last few months since I discovered how extensive their catalog is.
