Mar. 26th, 2008 02:55 pmThere's a caffeinated boss-free workday going on here. I'm finishing up the last 25 pages of Duma Key and lying low so our Director doesn't lob his miscellany my way.
Books read thus far this year...
The Star Wars Vault: Thirty Years of Treasures... - Stephen Sansweet
The Orc King: Transitions I - R.A. Salvatore
Lord of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground - by Michael Moynihan, Didrik Soderlind
Books of Blood - by Clive Barker
Duma Key - by Stephen King
My jeep is in the shop getting
and
fixed from a tree limb I hit in January, and my rental is a Chevy HHR. When I saw it I thought the Fugly Factor was pretty high, but it's really a blast to drive. I'm seriously considering trading my jeep in on one...the payment would be cheaper, the 30 mpg vs. 22mpg is a no-brainer, and my jeep is rapidly approaching 70K miles and some very expensive maintenance costs on the foreseeable horizon. I'll likely hand Beyotchâ„¢ the HHR and transit to work via her car (after a bit of audio work), the bikes, and car-pooling with El Jefe. Then after some uncalculated unit of time passes I'll trade her car in on something like a Honda Civic or of equal economical comparability. Her car is paid off, but I've had to replace the brake-pads twice in eight months and I think that unless I want to do it again in November I'll have to cure the problem instead of the symptom. I talked to my loan officer earlier today and got two thumbs up (like the Fonz and shit) to do what I wanna.
I have some other things mocked up for a summer project...
From this:

The day I got it...sometime in May of 2007. I've already swapped or chopped the seat, air cleaner, rear shocks, fork bag, and reflectors.
to this:

Somewhere in time. I was too lazy to 'shop in the 3" pullback risers on the handlebars and orange racing stripe on top of the tank and rear fender.
And you care, damnit.
