I think their fans need more convincing of that fact than the team. I'm content to see them lose, but I would still say that his actions substantially changed the course of the game.
I think the fact that an error was committed on the very next play that really led to the downfall of the Cubs. However, I do agree with you that if Alou had been able to catch the ball, thus ensuring two outs in the inning, the game would not have gotten as out of control for the Cubs.
But then again, their downfall did put a huge smile on my face, so I'm liking this guy that tried to catch the foul ball! =)
