I went out to eat with my brother and nephew, and I just tried on one of the wife-beaters that I bought when we stopped at the mall. I look like a real ass-wrench. I'm taking them back.

I'm finally enrolled and registered at ISU after a regoddamndiculous process of running in circles from admissions, to the registrar's office, to the academic dean, and to my academic advisor in repetition due to a "glitch" in my admissions status. After finally being granted a consultation with the academic dean after day three of being pinballed , she said that all the form-filling and bouncing from office to office had been completely unnecessary as a simple glitch was preventing me from registering for classes...BUT... they were "really sorry for their mistake and thankful for my patience." WELL THAT'S A RELIEF. Nothing has ever been simple when dealing with the academic offices since I began at ISU, and I'm really glad that I have a staff tuition waiver and don't have to fuck around with financial aid...someone could find their entire subnet without network access...due to a "glitch" with a big smile on his face. I just remembered...my staff tuition waiver form goes to our provost who was just publicly dismissed due to his "differences in educational philosophy"...so I shouldn't be too presumptuous that things will process seamlessly.

I'm looking forward to class starting. I feel really old walking around campus since the incoming freshmen are almost ten years younger than me. For the most part I could give a rat's ass, but I feel like an alien sometimes when younger girls talk to me. I'm not really sure why.

I've been rereading Stephen King's Dark Tower series and have just begun the third one: The Waste Lands. I forgot how good these books are, and I'll be more than ready for The Wolves of Calla upon its release. I scored a couple of great dvd's over the weekend too: Versus, The Matrix Reloaded, and the Nevermore Enemies of Reality dvd included with the special edition package.

I just rode about ten miles or so on my bike. A grass levee extends behind my apartment for a mile or so, which leads to some oil battery lanes, which in turn lead to a paved road. When I ride or run by myself, I like to create as much real distance between my origin and where I'm at until I don't think I can go any further, and then I have no choice but to repeat that distance back. I could hardly stand the sweat in my eyes. A shower has never felt better.

I completely sympathise with your enrollment troubles. I've had some similar troubles...

I registered for classes, had transcripts sent from previous classes, and chose a major/department advisor after taking a single semester undeclared at the University of Illinois at Springfield. That was because the first semester I was taking class there and at the community college during the 00/01 spring semester (I had the 98/99, 99/00 in champaign). Near the end of the 01/02 fall semester I recieved a letter stating that my declaration of major had never been recieved, and anything past my cumulative 15 hours of undeclared credit would not count toward a major.

Simple enough, I refiled. Assuming it all went to plan I made an appointment with my advisor. That was October 2001. An advising meeting in November revealed that UIS had not recieved my transcripts from UIUC or the community college. My advisor also did not have the clearance to access my transcripts for UIS. I sent requests to both schools, paid the fees... again... and assumed it all went to plan... again. My meeting in December, 3 days before the admissions department closed for the holiday, revealed that the transcripts had STILL not arrived. Both schools claimed they had sent them (as I had receipts) but I was required to pay the fee a third time. I didn't take chances so I drove to Champaign and to the community college picking up my transcripts personally. Turning them in on January 7, 2002 I was told they couldn't accept the grades as I may have tampered with them. A few choice words later they took my grades with looks of fear in their eyes. One week later I recieved a letter with a copy of my advisor selection paper dated october 2001, approved september 2002. Calls to the registration department told me I still wasn't approved for my declared major, and I wasn't goin to take classes that wouldn't count. I found out that the paperwork had to be in before the start of classes otherwise it wouldn't count. Late registration ended January 20. My letter arrived 4 days later, approved for my major on January 21.

Oh, the adventure doesn't end there. After taking a year off I finally saw my advisor (a week ago). They had me registered as female, and they had linked my classes incorrectly so none of my UIS credits were showing up in my file. They had no address for me on file.

These problems are in the process of being corrected. The gender issue and the address problem have been corrected. I'm still waiting to have my UIS classes correctly linked in some antiquated SQL database.

Ugh. Someone doesn't want me to finish school!

Them: "I'm sorry, we can't accept those, you may have tampered with them."

You: "Hm. Do you read the bible? Ezekiel 25:17, to be exact."

Them: ?

You: "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and a finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Them: ?

You:

I think the last paragraph fulfills a perfect coupling of words.

And you really don't post enough. =)

are you going full time?
I'm considering taking the plunge and doing it this coming Spring but I'm scared as hell about it. Working part time and going to school.

Nah...right now I'm only taking 3 credit hours. I haven't attended in a while, and my work schedule is pretty hectic. I might take on a bigger burden next year.

What are you wanting to get into?

yeah, i've taken a class here and there as well.
What do I want to get in to? that changes daily, but right now it's either English, History or theology. On the walk to work today i was walking near the Puget Sound and thought, "I could go in to marine biology..." So....it changes all the time.

Your last paragraph makes me want to start working out again. Fuckin' felt great when I did, but I gave it up to make time for my band. Ah well.

Just stumbled in. Good luck with school :> I'm heading back myself, and I'm certainly not looking forward to dealing with the immaturity of first year students.. what do you call them? Freshmen? Ick. Good luck anyway.
