Jan. 19th, 2001 06:52 amI was looking at the artwork on a few of my favorite album covers and cd liners yesterday, and I realized that most of my favorites were created by the same guy. My entry on January the 12th has an image of his from the Dreaming Neon Black series. Travis Smith at Seempieces...his work is beyond amazing. If you take the time to peruse this site, be sure to look at the Nevermore covers...allof'em...now, if only I could get you to listen to the music.
Some people can effortlessly create, others have to squeeze every ounce of emotion from their souls for the right expression, and those like myself...well, we hack a bit and wish that we had created the art that we admire. I often wonder how different my artistic skills would be if I had had the appropriate encouragement rather than discouragement to develop them as I was growing up. But, no excuses, only livin. I've found that while expression might not reward one with the almighty dollar, the personal victories that ensue the completion of a vision are enough...even if my work isn't up to caliber with someone like Travis Smith, it's mine, individualized, and unreplicated. I can still look at his work and wish it was mine.
