Oct. 19th, 2001 05:44 amMy mom called me earlier, when I had first arrived here at work before midnight. She lost her job at the Mercedes Benz dealership in Indianapolis as the accounts payable accountant. She was trying not to sound upset but I could tell she was. Apparently before she went on vacation earlier this week, she had printed new checks up to make sure that they had enough before she left. They print them with a program that requires minimal intervention, and somehow it had the bank code screwed up and she didn't notice it. After using one of the extra checks, the wife of the owner was 'embarrassed' when she had to go to the bank to clarify the mistake, so the owner fired mom. Bad day. Her part-time job is giving her more hours and bending over backwards to help her out, so it's only a matter of time before she finds another job in accounting. I know that she easily can.
Other than that the night has been dimly uneventful. I left my Deaver book at home, and my thoughts are too easily distracted. I think I slept too long before work...my cat woke me up about four times and asked me to feed him, but I kept dozing back off for an unreal total of ten hours of slumber.
I'm going out for lunch with my friend Silverthorne today, I haven't really talked to him since I was in his wedding last Fall. We didn't have a falling out or anything, we just stopped hanging out. I think I wrote about it in my lj a good while back. Matt and I are going to get together and jam this weekend. I learned a couple more songs yesterday to mess around with. They're embarrassingly easy, but quite fun for a couple of no-talent assclowns to play. I'll try to get around and visit the family while I'm in town too. There aren't enough ticks or tocks to see everyone who I'd like to though.
