My reply to Mandy's e-mail......

Hiya,

I know...I suck. I haven't ruled out a trip to St. Louis, I'm just
lousy with correspondance. I have had a few opportunities where I
could have driven to St. Louis, but life has been weird for the past
month and I have finally sorted things out. I have no reason to lie
to you...someone I met showed interest in me and the opportunity of
a relationship became apparent. Though weary, I convinced myself to
give her a chance and now I have had enough, but I basically
spent that time trying to figure out what I even want and need. I
think the world of you and Lily and would like to see you, though
I also question the realism in a solid friendship/relationship
between two people that live so far apart. Perhaps I assume to
much...

I hope your summer has been satisfying and you both are doing well.
If you still desire, I'll try to make time for a trip. (When are you
moving?) I understand if you are fed up with me.

Ummm... you're such a downer!!! Be happy!!! umm Well be happier sounding at least... and besides it doesnt hurt cause it can help to soften the mood/blow :)
