Jul. 11th, 2000 03:08 amNow for the ritualistic recap of my weekend...I avoid computers like the plague on my days off of work, so I don't get to update again until the beginning of the week. That time is now.
I spent most of the weekend at my cabin just relaxing, drinking, and fishing.
On Saturday evening, Billy and I wandered down toward Dave's cabin to socialize a bit with the usual suspects and ended up eating like kings, drinking copious amounts of beer, and playing chess. Catfish, fried zucchini, mushrooms, and potatoes...mmmmmmm. I beat their best chess player after a game that lasted an hour. My opponent (I can't even remember his name) took ages to ponder each move while I drank brew after brew and chain smoked. After that long and drawn out game we headed back to my cabin...Billy crashed and I fell asleep about an hour into Louis L'amour's The Sackets.
On Sunday I just sat around the cabin and relaxed. Billy left at 9 a.m., and I slept until about 11. I fished for a couple of hours with no damn luck, watched part of the wimbledon championship, and then headed to my dad's house. He wanted to go back to the cabin...I went with him. We went out on the river and used the fish finder to scout where we will set up our trotlines and bank poles next weekend, and then hung some really hokey cool plastic party lights - smiley faces - yellow, red, green, and white. I didn't want to go back to work on Sunday night....
