Jul. 3rd, 2000 05:17 amI really got my golf game back into shape last week. I was playing pretty well, shooting consistently in the mid to high eighties every round of eighteen holes. We played ninetey-eight holes over three days...my hands are blistered, my knees ache, and I'm sunburned, but I'm not bitching...it was a helluva time. The guys were great and Quail Creek ranks at the top of my favorite golf courses.
I managed to make a little bit of money from the "friendly" gambling that ran with every round. Two guys lost their asses and a good deal of their overall enjoyment of the trip. Archie and Bill cleaned house by shooting a few strokes better than myself every round. Archie is an amputee, he only has one arm...it was incredible watching him hit the ball. He has been the Indiana State Amputee Golf Tournament Champion several consecutive years.
Most importantly, I beat Mike every round. Mike is my boss, a damn good golfer, and an opportunist for bragging rights. Since I have only recently reimmersed myself into the game of golf, he has been beating me pretty easily. Now that I have refined my swing mechanics and played pretty regularly, I can beat him or at least keep it close when we play together. I have to let my hands heal and have my clubs regripped before I play again though...
