Mar. 26th, 2001 08:11 amI departed on Friday morning for Detroit, squinting into the rising sun while driving toward the eastern sky. The traffic was light so I made great time. I found a "short-cut" on Yahoo maps which involved driving on a highway rather than the interstate for the last seventy-three miles into Detroit. I decided to take it. Seventy miles isn't hard to cover on a highway....that is...unless....it happens to be littered with small, odd, tourist-trapish towns every five miles and the Michigan International Motor Speedway. I had accepted my plight and was salvaging time until the road began getting really hilly and curvy...it took that ONE guy driving thirty-five miles per hour to negate all confidence in covering the strip of road in under an hour. I couldn't pass him. I drove behind the guy in speed limits ranging from thirty to fifty-five miles per hour for FIFTY miles as he drove thirty-five miles per hour persistently. Hills and curves. I conceded to admiring the scenery. It was really nice. There were plenty of beautiful lakes and trees that I wanted to drive into. An hour and thirty-five minutes of enduring the shortcut from hell and its driving minions lead me practically to Oki's front door...if only I had remembered which street his front door was on. I found it really quickly though...7 mile road, 8 mile road, 9 mile road...process of elimination. I wonder how many numbered mile roads there are.
So I got to Oki's apartment. We killed time while waiting for HighLearn and HippieBait (HighLearn's friend). They arrived right on time....well, GBT anyhow. We took turns verbally abusing each other for an hour or so before Oki and I went to Best Buy for a network card and the grocery store for food type things. HighLearn and HippieBait stayed there. Though I didn't disclose my suspicion, I think that HighLearn had JUST finished pilfering from Oki's underwear drawer as we arrived back at his apartment. I had no proof so I kept my mouth shut. I installed my network card and with help got my box on the network. We drove to Windsor and met Scout right across the Canadian border, and he took us to one of his favorite eats to have some kick-ass gyros. *Thoomp Thoomp Thoomp THOMP-THOMP Thoomp Thooomp Thoomp THOMP-THOMP* There was a dance club above it that played techno music. The monotony of the pulsing bass drove Oki insane, but there was only a small change in his personality...he stopped yawning and started eating and conversing a little.

Oki took us to his friend....uh...Craig's...er uh Greg's, no Craig's...hmmmm....shit.........Oki took us to his friend Harold's house to hang out for a while. His house is like an arcade, Harold's that is. He has a ping-pong table, pool table, foosball, darts, air hockey, a five computer lan, etc. etc. etc. We had fun playing games and watching some (for the lack of a better term) "out there" anime. I wouldn't know the difference between good anime and bad anime. Oki's friends were cool though so it was fun. If HighLearn ever says that he's not very good at pool, do not believe him. Have you seen The Color of Money. Tom Cruise...Paul Newman........Exactly.

Sleep and more food were thrown into the mix...somewhere. Time blurs for me when I don't sleep much. Or maybe it just does that anyway.
I left after a nap Sunday afternoon, just in time for snow. The drive back was awful...but I'm getting used to that. I was only an hour late for work. I had time to stop by my apartment and call my mother and Bria real quicklike before dashing in. I'm tired. The night passed pretty quickly, though I didn't do a whole lot.
I'm going home and going to bed.
