Just to derp. Disaster behind the cut.

I'm rather fortunate today since every office surrounding my own is leaking like a sieve. Our switch room has painter's plastic channeling water away from an array of Cisco equipment. We've been relocating people all morning, and now I'm presently packing my shit up before I start taking water too.

Fucking-A.

Holy crow. The tarp covering the server is GUH.

What happened to create the sudden office monsoon? Or do you ordinarily work in a crackhouse?

Just realized that you wrote about the construction a few posts ago. My excuse: I am new here. Herp derp.

Something similar happened in one of our equipment rooms, but instead of it being an underground server room it was a burst pipe or something. They saved several major fiber backbones from becoming a waterlogged paperweight by throwing rolls and rolls of bubble wrap over the chassis.

Another questionable decision....water pipes + very expensive infrastructure hardware.

I would be laughing my ass off. What a ridiculous situation and even more ridiculous expense that's going to be. But I love mayhem. Time to get the bag of popcorn, can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow.

I started by just skimming the photos thinking, "huh...that looks like a big hassle." And then I saw that last photo and thought, "*gasp* Oh no! The servers!!" What a mess.

That's just our auxillary switch room (051) that we refer to as Area 51. Our data center (with hundreds of servers and several switches) will *probably* be fine...it shares an adjoining wall with that room, but it has an extra metal corrugated ceiling that should channel any water toward a drain. Key word there: *should*.

Time for the Moorlock uprising. The pointy-headed-planners can be collateral damage.
